„Dubrovnik, A Scarred City“ Exhibition
Event details
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the listing of Dubrovnik's historic center on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites (1979) and the 20th anniversary of its removal from the list of endangered World Heritage Sites (1998), this multimedia exhibition represents the suffering of Dubrovnik as a result of the devastation by the Yugoslav National Army and its rapid and impressive restoration.
The exhibition of the authors Julijana Antic Brautovic, Mato Brautovic and Goran Cvjetinovic used the material of the Museum of the Homeland War and the Institute for Reconstruction of Dubrovnik, as well as photographs of Milo Kovac, Bozo Gjukic, Pavo Urban, Miro Kerner, Damir Fabijanic and others. In addition to providing a vivid account of the destruction of the monumental heritage during the attack on Dubrovnik in the Homeland War and the post-war reconstruction of the city, the exhibition Dubrovnik and Scarred City also addresses the political circumstances of the beginning of the Homeland War.
The exhibition was successfully realized at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from December 17th to 28th last year, and after at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the United States of America in Washington, where it aroused great interest from the diplomatic public.
It can be viewed in the 2nd hall of the renovated Lazareti Complex.
